Revitalizing Downtown Sealy

Recently, the Sealy Economic Development Corporation sponsored a meeting with the property and business owners located in the Sealy Downtown District area.  This meeting was held in conjunction with the Texas Downtown Association.  The Texas Downtown Association fosters development and revitalization to enhance the economic vitality of Texas downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts by providing resources, networking opportunities, education and advocacy.

For more information regarding the Texas Downtown Association please visit:  http://www.texasdowntown.org

Whether you are a downtown property owner, a business owner or a citizen with an interest in the preservation of historic downtowns we would like you to join us to discuss the revitalization of the downtown district area.  The designated downtown district covers an 8-block area within the old town site of the City of Sealy which is bordered by the centerlines of the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way, West Front Street, Fifth Street and State Highway 36.

If you would like to attend a meeting regarding the revitalization of the downtown area, they are currently being held on the first Monday of each month (unless it falls on a holiday) at Sealy City Hall (in the Council Chambers) located at 415 Main Street at 6:30 pm. Mark your calendar and join us!

Buxton Community ID Refresh Report Underway

The Sealy Economic Development Corporation retained the services of Buxton in 2006 to conduct a study to determine the viablility of Sealy, Tx. as a location for selected retailers.  Since that time, Sealy has experienced growth and the addition of new and expanded retail businesses in the area.

We are currently working with Buxton on a Community ID Refresh report.  The Community ID report is a proven retail development strategy that can be immediately implemented.  This report will not only assist in seizing new retail it can also be utilized in expanding existing businesses.

The Community ID Refresh report should be available and posted on this website on or before September, 2010.

Should you have any questions regarding this matter please contact Kim Meloneck, Executive Director, at 979-885-3511, extension 121 or kmeloneck@ci.sealy.tx.us
